FORT JENNINGS, Ohio (WLIO) — Drier weather is expected in the coming days, but recent rainfall has pushed local rivers and streams past their limits.

According to the National Weather Service, the Auglaize River in Fort Jennings reached minor flood stage Sunday after cresting at 13.5 feet. The river had been expected to reach about 16 feet based on forecasts from Saturday.

Flood stage for the Auglaize River at Fort Jennings is 13 feet, while 11 feet is the action stage. The National Weather Service said the river is expected to fall below flood stage Monday evening. Minor flooding typically causes minimal or no property damage but can pose a public threat, including flooding of low-lying areas and roads.

The recent rainfall also contributed to significant flooding across parts of southern Indiana. Some rivers there crested about 5 feet above major flood stage, causing extensive damage to homes and businesses.
