FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) - The Findlay Police Department will release more details and body camera footage from the August 10 fatal officer-involved shooting.

Police will hold a news conference Aug. 17 to discuss the death of 37-year-old Holden Smith, who was killed at the Rodeway Inn.

Police officials said officers received a call that Smith was at the motel and was threatening to hurt himself. When officers arrived, Smith was in a parking lot waving and pointing a gun.

Police reported that officers tried to talk Smith down. Smith allegedly raised the gun and was shot and killed by a single round fired by an officer.

The name of the officer has not been released. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is handling the investigation.

According to police, the shooting happened after officers found Smith in the parking lot with a gun and unsuccessful attempts to negotiate with him.
