Possible gas leak leads to evacuation of Mercy Health - St. Rita's buildings

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Mercy Health St. Rita's evacuated several buildings because of a gas odor detected in the complex Thursday morning.

Around 10:15 AM, patients and staff were told to leave the building that houses doctors offices and more. People were being told not to enter the building. People were waiting in the parking lot.

Not much information is being released at this point. We will update this story as soon as more information becomes available.

A statement from Mercy Health's PR Manager reads: "We are taking precautionary measures in response to a gas odor. The safety of our patients, visitors and associates remains our top priority, and we are continuously monitoring air quality while maintaining normal operations."
