LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) -Â The Lima Samaritan House raised some dough for its housing program with its "Raisin' Bread" celebration.
The house partnered with Panera Bread to provide a night of fun to raise money and celebrate its 39th anniversary. The event featured a silent auction, a 50-50 raffle drawing and live music from Main Street Dueling Pianos. All proceeds from the celebration were put toward the operational costs of the Samaritan House. House officials said the celebration helps support the organization in its goal of helping women without a home.
"For 39 years, our mission has been to bring shelter, hope, and guidance to women that are experiencing homelessness and needing a place to stay," said Brandi Schroeder, Lima Samaritan House executive director.
"We have case management services. We provide a lot of those supplies that you need while you're living there like shelter, laundry facilities and meals. We're just hoping that we can give an opportunity for people to get back on their feet and feel safe."
As the Samaritan House approaches its 40th anniversary, officials say they hope to continue providing services until there is no longer a need for them.
