LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Lima Food Fort gave out complimentary food packages on Tuesday.
The Lima Food Fort, located at 601 South Leonard Avenue, gives out free food kits to those in need, provided they have a valid I.D. Upon using their I.D., anyone attending can come once a month to receive food at no charge.
On Tuesday, they teamed up with God's Gracious Giving Mobile, which brought in clothing that could also be taken home for those who need it.
The opportunity is a regular event and happens at the Fort twice a week, in the evenings.
“I have worked in the food pantry industry for over ten years, so I've always wanted to open a pantry for the working people, so we're the only fam- we are the only pantry that is open in the evening in a five-county radius. We are open in the evening because so many people work during the day, but their paycheck doesn't last,” says Tammy Gould, Director, Food Fort.
Food Fort workers made their mission clear Tuesday.
“Help feed everybody, make sure that nobody goes hungry, you know, give everybody a chance to have food,” says Charity Weisbrod, Intake, Food Fort.
The Food Fort is open from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
