LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Allen County will open its 176th annual county fair this Friday, and the fair board gave people a preview this afternoon with the Allen County Fair Parade.
Board members and fair sponsors took to Main Street to promote the fair and show what it has in store. Organizations promoted themselves through flyers, floats and throwing out candy. Organizations including the Junior Fair Board, local high schools and various fair sponsors walked the parade to build excitement for this year. Children who walked the parade said they're excited to enjoy the fair with their families, and are especially excited for the rides and food.
"I'm excited to get to see all my friends and all the activities throughout the whole fair," said 4-H Junior Fair Princess Harper Corbet.
"My personal favorite is all the rides. I always pick a day and get a ride band and ride the whole day."
"I always really like eating the fair food. The breadsticks are probably my favorite thing to go get," said Vivian Elrod, member of the Junior Fair Board.
"J & M's Ice Cream's always a big hit. You have to get there pretty soon otherwise they like sell out really fast."
