LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Our Daily Bread hosted a fundraiser Saturday afternoon at Lima Baptist Temple, serving barbecue dinners for the community.
They also offered baked goods available by donation for anyone who wanted something sweet after their meal.
Volunteers were prepared to hand out around 500 meals throughout the day. For just $12, attendees received a half chicken, baked potato, applesauce, and a roll. They also offered baked goods available by donation for anyone who wanted something sweet after their meal. With everyone that came through, the soup kitchen was overwhelmed by the support.
"That's what's great about this community. I mean, I grew up in Lima, and I really didn't have any idea that the community was just awesome and giving until I started working at Our Daily Bread. Every day I'm just floored by this community, it's just great," said Randy Kimpel, director with Our Daily Bread.
If you would like to donate to Our Daily Bread, they're looking for butter, sugar, ranch dressing, and canned fruit. Just bring the items to the soup kitchen located at 125 South Central Avenue here in Lima.
