LIMA, OH (WLIO) - How am I going to feed my family is a question that's asked too many times in west central Ohio. That's why the Lima Memorial Emerging Philanthropists, the West Ohio Food Bank, and the Lima Senior Culinary Arts students are coming together to raise awareness about food insecurity with an event this Thursday.
Organizers want to shine a spotlight on how big the problem is in the Greater Lima Region, and how a money donation can do more good than food donations at the food bank.
"The Purpose of the Emerge event is to highlight the connection between Lima Memorial and other organizations in the community that serve the members of the community," says Ann Welly, President of All Service Glass. "We really wanted to partner with Lima Seniors' Culinary Arts to provide education to students about food insecurity and how prevalent it is in Allen County."
"Raising Awareness to Food Insecurities" is Thursday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. at the West Ohio Food Bank at 1380 E Kibby St, Lima, OH 45804. The event is free and open to the public. There will be prepackaged meal kits available for a $20 donation to the food bank and recipes for additional donations.
