WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) — An annual event in Wapakoneta is helping people shake off winter and think spring.

HerbalCon encourages residents to 'Think Spring' in Auglaize County

This is the third year for HerbalCon, which features vendors and speakers discussing medicinal herbs, soil health and regeneration, and the use of rain barrels. While conferences focused on herbs are held in the fall and summer in other locations, the founder of HerbalCon wanted to create something local and believed spring was the right time to plant the seed for growing something healthy for both people and the environment.

“I want to foster a sense of conservation, respect for the environment, and learning how to implement those things. I work as an herbalist, so being in tune with nature and the environment is all a part of learning which kinds of herbs may be helpful in certain situations, and if you have no good environment and no conservation, you have no herbs,” said Lori Osterloh-Hagaman, founder of HerbalCon.

Osterloh-Hagaman said she hopes HerbalCon will continue to grow year after year.
