The Johnny Appleseed Park District officially opened the Beil’s Buck Run Nature Area, a 50-acre preserve featuring more than a mile of hiking trails through woods, meadows and waterways. Donated by Herbert and Elfrieda Beil, the property is now the district’s 18th public nature trail destination and is open to hikers from dawn to dusk.
