VAN WERT, Ohio (WLIO) — A Van Wert fifth-grader is in the semifinal rounds of voting to become Junior Ranger 2025.
Hudson Sauer is currently in fifth place in the international competition, which selects one child out of hundreds of thousands of applicants to win $20,000, meet famous biologist Jeff Corwin, and appear in Ranger Rick Magazine.
Hudson has been fascinated by animals since he could talk. He says if he wins, he’ll be putting the prize money to good use.
“The main reason I want to win is because all that money will go into my college fund so I can become a zoologist when I grow up,” Hudson said.
“Being that animals and wildlife and conservation are his biggest interests, every day he's learning something new and sharing with everyone — this is like his Super Bowl,” said Hudson’s mom, Heather Sauer. “It couldn't be a more perfect fit for him. It's so exciting to watch everyone support him, vote for him, encourage him, and donate for him. It's been amazing.”
