UPDATED STORY FEBRUARY 27TH 7:45 AM:

CRIDERSVILLE, Oh (WLIO)  – The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash that occurred Wednesday at 5:12 p.m. at the intersection of Mudsock Road and Buckland Holden Road in Duchouquet Township, Auglaize County.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Ford Explorer, operated by Christina Mathewson, 65, of Wapakoneta, was traveling south on Mudsock Road, approaching the intersection of Buckland Holden Road. A 2023 Buick Enclave, operated by Ted Rupert, 73, of Wapakoneta, was traveling west on Buckland Holden Road, approaching the intersection of Mudsock Road. The Ford failed to yield at the intersection and was struck by the Buick.

The Ford traveled off the west side of the roadway, where it overturned, struck a building church, and came to a final rest embedded in the wall. The Buick came to rest along the southwest side of the intersection.

Mathewson was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital by ground ambulance with serious injuries.

Rupert was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center by ground ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger, Lynette Rupert, 67, of Wapakoneta, was also transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wapakoneta post.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Auglaize County Emergency Management, Cridersville Fire Department, Uniopolis Fire Department, and Miller Auto Inc.

AUGLAIZE COUNTY, OHIO (WLIO) – Three people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash in northern Auglaize County.

Around 5 p.m., the Cridersville Fire Department responded to the intersection of Mudsock and Buckland-Holden roads. Law enforcement said one of the vehicles failed to stop at a stop sign, striking the other vehicle, which then flipped onto its side and crashed into a nearby building. Both drivers and a passenger in one of the vehicles were taken to Lima hospitals. Their conditions are currently unknown. The crash remains under investigation. The Uniopolis Fire Department was called for mutual aid.
