WAPAKONETA, OH (WLIO) -Â 'Tis the season in Wapakoneta as the Children's Hometown Holiday hosts a sold-out "Bourbon Bags & Bingo."
Residents went head-to-head in 12 rounds of competitive bingo for a chance to win either a designer purse or bourbon.
In their 19th year holding this event, organizers went bigger than ever with several raffles, including a 50-50 and gun raffle, a cash bar, and a silent auction featuring a Pete Rose autographed photo.
All the proceeds tonight will go towards the Children's Hometown Holiday event in December.
"It's all about the children. You see the smiles on their faces, and the fact that nobody has to pay anything to do any of the things that we do, except, of course, this bingo. We have to pay to get in here, but we have to raise about $50,000 every year to do this. Children get to go ice skating for free. Everybody gets to skate on the rink, and it's wonderful. It's right there by the fire station," told Elaine Poppe, Children's Hometown Holiday Organizer.
The annual Children's Hometown Holiday event will be held December 5th through the 7th.
