Building strong families is the goal of an initiative between Allen County Children Services and SAFY Lima Behavioral Health.
The 2019 Families Build Futures event help educate and connect families to the resources they need to create and maintain healthy relationships. It will also address the challenges families face such as bullying, family drug addiction, assault, hunger, and poverty. This year's theme is superheroes for children.
"Embedded among all of us are these great superheroes. It's the counselor at school, it's the parent at homes making sure the kids do homework, it's the support person who comes along to really step in and provide for what children really need, and it's hard to raise children, there's lots of challenges out there for us," said Judy Lester, treatment director at Lima Behavioral Health.
The event will be Tuesday, April 16th at North Middle School from 4 to 6 p.m. They are holding it this month in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
