While temperatures may be warming up for now, Old Man Winter is just around the corner, and one local organization is preparing to help keep area youth warm.

Youth ages 12 to 17 and their guardians are invited to visit the drop-in center from now through September 23rd for an open house from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Teens will receive a backpack filled with back-to-school items. Guardians just fill out an intake form and complete a five-minute tour of the facility. From this point, area teens are free to visit anytime during the rest of the school year to receive meals, complete homework, and receive the services they provide.
Gift bags were handed out to local area youth during an event held by SAFY on Saturday. The youth center handed out gift bags filled with different items.
A partnership is aiming to promote positivity and health in the City of Lima. ArtSpace/Lima and SAFY partnered together on Saturday in order to hand out "to-go" bags to Lima residents at two separate locations.
SAFY and ArtSpace Lima are reminding people once again that there will be to-go bags at both of their locations this weekend. The New Book, New Look bags will have two parts - journals being handed out by ArtSpace, and hygiene kits given by the SAFY Youth Drop In Center.
The “SAFY” Youth Drop-In Center will have 100 hygiene packs geared for young adults between the ages of 12 and 17 years old. The bags will be filled with shampoo, bath puffs, combs, and more, thanks to a grant from Procter and Gamble. “SAFY” representatives say making items like these available to youth is essential to their mission.
As the pandemic continues, students return to school and more activities are going on, they present challenges to young people and their families. SAFY is reminding people of their outpatient mental health services that can connect you to the appropriate professional. That can be done in person or using telehealth. And SAFY has announced the reopening of the youth drop-in center that will be open every day, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., beginning Sept. 26.
SAFY wants to make sure families are prepared to send their kids back to school with a backpack filled with school supplies. On Saturday, they held a drive-up donation where they provided a bag lunch, goodie bag, and backpack to every kid.
