MERCER COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - One man is dead following a crash over the weekend in Mercer County.
At approximately 3:04 p.m. Sunday afternoon, 44-year-old Kimo Bechtol was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on State Route 49, near the intersection of Fox Road, south of Fort Recovery. Two passengers, a 13-year-old and an 8-year-old, were injured, and both were transported to Mercer Health in Coldwater. The two minors were then transferred to a Dayton hospital, with the 13-year-old suffering serious injuries.
According to the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, Bechtol was driving a 2014 Dodge truck northbound on 49 when he drifted left of center for an unknown reason, struck a guardrail, and went down into a ravine.
The Mercer County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Fort Recovery and Burkettsville fire departments, the Saint Henry EMS, and MCERV.
