Evans waives right to preliminary hearing

A Lima man waives his right to a preliminary hearing in a murder case dating back to 2001.

35-year-old David Evans appearing before Magistrate Richard Warren signing a waiver to bypass his preliminary hearing and will now be bound over to an Allen County Grand Jury. Evans is being held on a charge of voluntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of 69-year-old Cardell "Bob" Beachum. Beachum was found shot to death in the parking lot of his business, "Sports and Sorts" on St. John's Avenue, July 2,2001.

Evans turned himself into local authorities earlier this month some 15 years after the incident. He was remanded back to the Allen County Jail with bond continued at $500,000.
