Just beside the Tablescapes was the "Your Favorite Lunch Casserole" cook-off, with the cooks' choice of casserole up for judging on their presentation and flavor.

Open Class competitions were going on in a variety of events. There was the Tablescapes, where competitors set a dinner table with a specific theme. Just beside them was the "Your Favorite Lunch Casserole" cook-off, with the cooks' choice of casserole up for judging on their presentation and flavor. And just around the corner, it was the "Wine Challenge," where bottles of homemade wine were judged on taste, quality, looks, and originality.

Being judged were foliage, ornamental grasses, container-grown plants, and a special class of fairy gardens.

"And the reason why I went with the best of show here, A, well, it was different; it was the only all-white wine. Two, it was quite effervescent, and then just overall it had the smoothest flavor and smoothest texture," explained Rob Nelson, wine judge and owner of The Met.

"I was really surprised. I sort of really love baking pies, and cooking casseroles is not my forte. I call it "All American Pizza Pie Casserole." I'm grateful, and I'm surprised, though. They said it tasted good, so give me the opportunity to be a cook instead of a baker," stated April Ann Dorman, Best of Show Casserole winner.

Chad Martin of Delphos won best of show for his dandelions wine.

The second flower show was today, where all entries must be grown by the exhibitor. Being judged were foliage, ornamental grasses, container-grown plants, and a special class of fairy gardens. The Happy Hour Garden Club is the lead this year, being assisted by the Lima Garden Club. Both clubs are encouraging youth to get involved in floriculture and enter next year's exhibition.
