LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Lima City Schools tradition only in its second year is rapidly growing in popularity with the students.

Hundreds of Lima City Schools students show Spartan pride in Homecoming Parade downtown

Staff members say students make a lot of fun memories being in the parade, and they leave the experience with even more school pride.

Athletes, club members, and other students as young preschoolers walked through downtown to Lima Senior for their annual homecoming parade. The high school marching band and cheerleaders from several different grade levels took the opportunity to perform, and many groups showed off their NFL team spirit too. Staff members say students make a lot of fun memories being in the parade, and they leave the experience with even more school pride.

"They liked interacting with the community; they liked to be able to pass out things. They liked how everybody showed up and clapped for them, just showing recognition. Not for people attending games or coming to see the marching band or clubs, but just everyone coming to see everyone," said Tiffany Daniel, an athletic assistant for Lima City Schools.

Students are particularly excited about this homecoming because Lima Senior Football enters their game against Toledo Rogers on Friday with a perfect 6-0 record.
