LACNIP produce to soon be sold at local grocery store

It's fresh, it's local, and you will soon find it on the produce shelf.

The first harvest of the Neighborhood Aquaponics Lettuce was presented to Lima Mayor David Berger. Lima Allen County Neighborhood In Partnership is now officially in the produce business as their lettuce will be sold by Chief Supermarkets. Look for their label at the store located on Cable Road starting next week. LACNIP members say seeing the lettuce go from seed to shelf brings great satisfaction.

"It is exciting and what is even more exciting is that we're able to provide that to a local grocery store. Being able to provide, ya know, herbicide and pesticide free, sustainable product to a local grocery store is exciting," said Vice President of LACNIP Matt Romick

The hope is to expand the aquaponic greenhouse to grow more fresh produce.
