The way it works is that students, with parental permission, can leave their school grounds to attend the privately funded class. The program was founded by Van Wert native Joel Penton. Locally there is a class in Elida with the hopes of launching others in Spencerville and Allen East in the fall. “LifeWise Academy” programs are growing across the state and even beyond.

Derek Stemen is the Director of Advancement of “LifeWise Academy” and explains, “We’ve seen some incredible growth all across the state. We actually have 35 live programs in the state and we have over 250 schools kind of across the nation that have expressed interest in this program.”

Stemen says there is no cost for the student to attend as it is all privately funded. You can learn more at their website lifewiseacademy.org.
