Teachers at Lima West Middle School utilized a creative, fun strategy to show their students they can learn scientific principles through a popular game. You may have played "Tug-of-War" as a child to test your team's strength, but this once Olympic sport was the highlight of STEM education today at West!

It's hard to believe another summer break has come and gone as long lines were spotted in front of Heritage Elementary School in Lima on Wednesday morning as parents come to drop off their kids on the very first day of school. The students we spoke to seemed very eager for the school year to begin. The last couple of years have been particularly challenging for our educators as the pandemic disrupted the way that kids learn. Principal Barker says she is very optimistic they will make up for lost time this year. 

Lima Rotarians learning about the “LifeWise Academy”, a Released Time Religious Instruction program. that provides bible-based character education during the school day. The way it works is that students, with parental permission, can leave their school grounds to attend the privately funded class. The program was founded by Van Wert native Joel Penton. Locally there is a class in Elida with the hopes of launching others in Spencerville and Allen East in the fall. “LifeWse Academy” programs are growing across the state and even beyond.

Rhodes State College’s Uniquely Abled Academy is teaching individuals who are high functioning on the autistic spectrum the skills to enter the manufacturing industry. Students learn to program, set up and operate CNC machines. It is a 10-week program with 420 hours of in-class instruction plus 20 hours plus of job readiness instruction.

The CDC has now issued new guidelines when it comes to a isolating or quarantining after a positive COVID-19 test.
