Lima man leads police on short chase before crashing car

Tuesday morning at around 7:30, an officer from the Lima Police Department was taking a report of a stolen vehicle that had been taken over night from the 500 block of Nova, when another officer noticed the same car parked in the driveway in the 1100 block of South Union.

As the officer was investigating he noticed a Lima man got in the car and fled. Officers attempted to stop the car but 45-year-old Kevin Hill refused to stop. The car chase lasted only one block through an alley where Hill crashed the car onto the side of a garage and a fence at 1207 South Central..

Lima police officials say Hill fled on foot from the vehicle but was then caught. There was damage to the side of the garage that was struck.

Hill is being charged with suspicion of receiving stolen property, failure to comply with the order of a police officer, and obstructing official business.
