The Lima Sertoma Club has been giving out their Firefighter of the Year award every year since 1972.

Harrod always wanted to be a firefighter, just like his dad, and says he is glad that the Lima Fire Department gave him the chance when he was looking for his first job.

"The Lima Fire Department is great. Again, they're the ones that, that gave me the opportunity when all the other departments that I traveled across the state for to test for, they didn't give me that opportunity. So it is great to be able to give a full career to the department that gave me the opportunity to live out my dream of being a firefighter," says Kendall Harrod, Lima Noon Sertoma Firefighter of the  Year.
