A wood burning fireplace appears to be the origin of a house fire this morning in Bath Township. The Bath Township Fire Department was called out to 2263 Harding Highway around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Smoke and flames were coming from the home's second story when firefighters arrived. Bath was assisted on the two-alarm blaze by American Township, Lima, and Perry Township fire departments.

Multiple fire departments responded to a two-alarm house fire in Allen County this afternoon. First responders got the call to 3025 North Cool Road just before 2 p.m. Thursday. On arrival they found flames coming from the eaves all around the structure. Crews had to deal with high winds and cold temperatures but were able to get inside to fight the fire before the roof began collapsing.

Shawnee Township first responders are getting some new equipment thanks to Marathon Petroleum. The Lima Marathon Pipeline and the Lima Marathon Terminal donated a combined $9,600 to the Shawnee Township Police and fire departments. The police department will be using the donation toward a couple of portable MARCS radios, and the fire department will be getting 8 communication headsets for their trucks.

November 8, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio State Fire Marshal: Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal’s (SFM's) Ohio Fire Academy celebrated its most recent graduating class of firefighter students during a ceremony today at SFM’s campus in Reynoldsburg. The Firefighter Class 239 is comprised of 32 individuals representing communities across Ohio. Graduates successfully completed the academically and physically rigorous 10-week, 468-hour program to join the ranks of Ohio’s firefighters. The extensive firefighter training program is the only program in the state where students can earn eight additional certifications in addition to their Firefighter I & II state certifications.

Multiple fire departments battled a barn fire Monday afternoon just east of Fort Jennings. Just past 3 p.m., the Fort Jennings volunteer fire department responded to 19773 Road 20 in Putnam County, where they found flames shooting through the roof of a barn and approaching two adjacent buildings, one housing pigs.

The Lima Noon Sertoma Club honors Lima's bravery with the Firefighter of the Year Award. This year they recognized Kendall Harrod for the work he has done over the past 10 years with the Lima Fire Department. His fellow firefighters call him a role model for their new recruits, and this past summer, Harrod helped save the life of an infant while responding to a call.

The Bath Township Fire Department responded to 3323 Shearin Avenue after receiving a 911 call for a house on fire at 9:57 p.m. Tuesday night. Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the attic and were able to extinguish the fire within approximately thirty minutes.

The Delphos Firefighters Local 686 have received the green light from city administration to accept a large grant aimed to increase personnel numbers. Following an evening of extensive discussion with Delphos Fire & Rescue, Delphos City Council voted in favor by a 4-to-3 vote for the city's fire department to accept "The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant" or the SAFER Grant. The little over $1.8 million grant will provide Delphos Fire & Rescue funding to add 6 new full-time personnel over a 3-year time period. After council's approval, Delphos Fire personnel spoke with us on what this means for their department.
