LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The Lima Fire Department congratulated three probationary firefighters on Wednesday, presenting them with their badges and helmet shields after successfully completing their year of probation.
Logan Shulte, an Ottoville High School graduate; Chris Wade, a graduate of Defiance College; and Tommy Spyker, a Shawnee High School alumnus, have all met the requirements to become full members of the Lima Fire Department. The department and community extended congratulations to the three new firefighters on their achievement.

LIMA, Ohio – The City of Lima Fire Department is proud to recognize Firefighters Logan Schulte, Chris Wade, and Tommy Spyker for successfully completing their one-year probationary period, effective August 5, 2025.
Hired in August 2024, each of these firefighters has spent the past year training, learning, and growing—pushed to expand their skills, strengthen their confidence, and prove themselves as trusted members of our department. The Lima Fire Department commends Firefighters Schulte, Wade, and Spyker for their outstanding work during probation and welcomes them as full members of the Lima Fire Department.
Firefighter Logan Schulte
A graduate of Ottoville High School, Logan has served his hometown as a volunteer firefighter and also has experience in machining.

Firefighter Chris Wade
Originally from Palm Beach, Florida, Chris is a graduate of Defiance College with a diverse background in manufacturing, culinary arts, and home improvement. While attending the Ohio Fire Academy EMT Class this year, Chris was recognized as the Distinguished Honor Graduate of his class.

Firefighter Tommy Spyker
A Shawnee High School graduate, Tommy has applied his background in construction and remodeling to assist with projects around the firehouse and consistently offers his help wherever it is needed.

“He goes above and beyond when assigned a task.”
