
LIMA, OH (WLIO)- Those struggling to provide food and more this coming Christmas can get some help from the local Salvation Army.

Sign-ups for the organization's Christmas assistance program will begin Tuesday, October 3rd through October 5th. Tuesday and Thursday will have hours from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday hours will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. You must live in Lima or Allen County to apply, and bring a list of documents to complete your application, which includes your photo ID, birth certificate for youth, social security cards for everyone in the household, proof of address, proof of income, and the list of bills and expenses for the month. You can also apply online.

"The online application if they want to do it there, they can go under saangeltree.org and they can apply on there until October 7th. They can sign up any days, there is no preference on if they come early or not, it's just making sure that they come within that time frame or doing it online," explained Charity Bender, captain of the Lima Salvation Army.
