Pope Leo XIV has urged a ceasefire in the Middle East and called on leaders in the Iran war to reopen talks. On Sunday, he spoke in his noon blessing and condemned attacks on schools, hospitals and homes. He pointed to a strike that hit a school in Iran and killed children. U.S. officials say an investigation is underway and flawed intelligence may have played a role. Leo also highlighted rising humanitarian risks in Lebanon and worried about vulnerable Christian communities. He kept his language indirect and avoided naming countries. Some U.S. cardinals and Vatican officials have spoken more bluntly and criticized the war.

A Putnam County church recently returned from western North Carolina to make sure children affected by Hurricane Helene can have a merry Christmas. Saint Mary Catholic Church in Leipsic recently delivered around $100,000 worth of toys as Christmas gifts to the Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry Christmas Angel Program in Arden, North Carolina. The Leipsic church made it their mission to bring Christmas joy to North Carolina as their holiday service project after hearing the Christmas Angel Program would assist over 2,500 children this year.

It has become a holiday tradition in the Lima area. The South Side Christian Church's "Holiday Treasures" bazaar is at the end of this week. Members of the Disciple's women's group at the church work all year crafting and creating. The bazaar dates back to the 1950s, raising money for local non-profits, and it also provides fellowship for those who work on the sale. Members say they are blessed to be able to help others with the sale.
