WAPAKONETA, OH (WLIO) - A Wapakoneta church lets people include their furry friends in their faith.
The pastors prayed over each pet for their continued safety and the comfort they bring to their families.
For the second year, the public was invited to bring their dogs, cats, or any animal companion to St. Paul United Church of Christ's Blessing of the Pets. The pastors prayed over each pet for their continued safety and the comfort they bring to their families. The event is also a good way for St. Paul to introduce themselves to members of the community and give them a feel for what kind of church they are.
"Here at St. Paul United Church of Christ, we celebrate all facets of our life and seasons of life. Our saying here is no matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you're welcome here. Pets are a blessing and a joy to our lives. So, a way to celebrate God's creation and the vastness and creativity of God's creation," said Anthony Spearhart, the pastoral intern at St. Paul.
Many churches bless pets to honor St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecology.
