Some new information was released in the fatal plane crash in northern Allen County last week.
The National Transportation Safety Board has taken over the investigation from the Ohio State Highway Patrol into the crash outside of Gomer last Thursday. They say a preliminary report could be available within 10 days.
The NBC station, KWQC in Davenport, Iowa, reported the pilot was Steven Niemann and the passenger was Tracey Hartnett. Both of them are from Bellevue, Iowa, and were flying east for a prospective job when the plane crashed. It ended up in a field near Sandy Point and Tudor roads after they were flying in heavy rain. Niemann and Hartnett were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are still investigating the crash.
