LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Powerball jackpot on Wednesday has become the third largest in the game's history.
No ticket matched all six numbers drawn on Monday night, which has caused the jackpot to increase to $1.2 billion. In case of a potential winner in the next draw, they will have two payout options: 30 annual installments or a lump sum of $551.7 million. However, if the lump sum amount is chosen, the payout will reduce to $402.5 million after applying federal and Ohio state tax withholdings. If the installment option is picked, the winner could take home approximately $40 million annually. This afternoon, we asked those selling lottery tickets at Fat Jacks what they would do if they won the grand prize.
"I'd probably donate a lot of it, but I'd travel, for sure, across the world. I want to go to London and Africa," said Previous Smith.
"I'd probably buy a bunch of acres of land, rescue a bunch of dogs, and have a good time," commented Alexis Goode.
"Probably buy a house and go traveling a lot, a lot of traveling. I really want to go to, where do I want to go to? I don't know. Oh, I really want to go to South Korea," said Jatanya Battle.
Those who play the Powerball will find out if they are the lucky winner tomorrow at 10:59 pm, despite odds stacked against them of 1 in 292.2 million.
