Reward offered for information leading to arrest in Alger arson fires

The Hardin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of fires in the village of Alger that appear to be arson.

According to the sheriff's office, the Alger Community Fire Association responded to a garage fire on February 3, 2017. The Hardin County Fire and Explosion Investigation Team was called to the fire at 207 West Wagner Street and determined it was arson. On February 5th, the investigation team was called to a field fire off Country Road 92 in Marion Township. That fire is also being investigated as arson.

The investigation team has posted a Blue Ribbon Arson Reward for up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for setting the fire. Anyone with information on either fire is asked to call Detective Conley at the sheriff's office at 419-673-1268 extension 2106.
