The State Fire Marshal's Office has closed their investigation into the September house explosion that killed 96-year-old Gladys Ward.
According to the investigator's report, the house was full of propane gas, but they can not determine what was the ignition source that caused the explosion that killed Ward. The report says that one of the knobs on the stove was in the on position, but investigators could not say if that was the source of the propane gas or not.
The explosion completely leveled the Phillips Road home and the force of the explosion damaged surrounding homes. The report says the debris field extended several hundred yards in all directions from Ward's home.
