Two are dead after a house explosion in Shelby County early Tuesday morning. According to WDTN in Dayton, the home exploded in the 17000 block of Sharp Road north of Sidney around 2 a.m. Debris was sent flying hundreds of feet away. Multiple fire crews responded to the scene.

Around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, an explosion was reported at the plant, but no one was injured. According to POET, the incident happened in the distillation unit. First responders from area agencies were called in to help on the scene. 

A two-alarm fire complete destroys a south Lima home late Saturday night.  The Lima Fire department was called out to 786 S. Metcalf St. just after 11 p.m., after a neighbor heard an explosion and saw flames shooting from the home.   Lima Fire called in Shawnee Township for mutual aid.   The heat of the fire cause damage to homes on either side and the wall on the south side of the house was moved out about a foot and half.  It is unknown if anybody was living there at the time.  Fire investigators from Lima and Shawnee Township are looking into the cause.  Fire crews were on scene for five hours. The home was completely destroyed and will have to be torn down.    

The Bluffton Fire Department responded to a report of a house explosion around 6PM Wednesday at 2275 State Route 103. Upon arrival, the house was fully engulfed. The explosion could be heard and felt miles away from the scene. According to the State Fire Marshal's Office, the bodies of an adult male and adult female were discovered in the rubble and transported to the Lucas County Coroners Office for autopsy. There is is no indication of any criminal activity and the cause remains under investigation.

You may have heard a loud noise around 8 p.m. near the Lima refinery complex on Sunday evening. In a Facebook post from the Shawnee Township Fire Department, crews were sent out to INEOS Chemicals on Fort Amanda Road for a tank collapse.

Four people were hurt when an explosion knocked down part of a roof at a Shelby County aluminum company. Emergency crews were called to the Ross Aluminum Company in Sidney around 10:30 a.m. Friday morning. The explosion caused part of the roof to collapse. There is no other visual structural damage to the building. Two people were taken to the hospital and two others were treated at the scene. So far, it's not clear what caused the blast.

WHEMCO Ohio Foundry has reached a settlement with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, following an accident last year that sent four people to the hospital. After initially being fined nearly $30,000, the two parties agreed WHEMCO would pay a fine close to $21,000. An explosion was reported on February 2nd, 2018, prompting a response from the Shawnee Township Fire Department. According to OSHA records, while trying to pour molten metal into a furnace a faulty ladle caused a spill of 9,600 tons of molten metal. Four people suffered various burns from the splatter. Three were hospitalized for two days, another was hospitalized for two weeks and went through rehabilitation.

The State Fire Marshal's Office has closed their investigation into the September house explosion that killed 96-year-old Gladys Ward.
