Many times there are scammers or spoofers that look legit but really are not. If you feel like you may have been scammed, call your financial institution, watch your accounts, and hope your merchandise gets delivered.

"If the merchant does not provide you with a delivery date, we have to allow the merchant 30 days to make good on them to ship that items to you. And then after that 30-day process, somebody from your institution should be reaching out to you and asking you if you've received anything, if you received a refund, if you've had any contact with that merchant," said Jessica Holliday, fraud director at Superior Credit Union.

Many times there are scammers or spoofers that look legit but really are not.

If not, that is when a fraud dispute can go through. You also need to be careful on how you pay. If the merchant is asking for payment through a cash app or Venmo, that could be a red flag, and your money can be harder to recoup.
