Students at Delphos Jefferson take part in a strategic planning workshop

Students from Delphos Jefferson learn that success in business can translate to success in everything you do.

A select group of student leaders took part in a strategic planning workshop at the Career Connections Student Center to learn more about adapting business practices to everyday life. This all started when high school principal Chad Brinkman wanted to research how organizations work in creating a positive culture and he met with Marathon Petroleum who went through a strategic planning session for their terminal, transport, and rail division. He mirrored those ideas and reworked them to fit an educational setting and applied it in the school, and the school district are seeing the benefits from those changes.

Marathon Petroleum was invited in to talk about what they do, and communication specialist Brandon Daniels says he hopes the students walk away knowing the theories and methods used in strategic planning can be applied to any organization and in any situation.

The second part of the workshop allowed the teachers and staff to get more in depth knowledge about how what they do also impacts the students and translates to the real world.
