Shawnee Township first responders are getting some new equipment thanks to Marathon Petroleum. The Lima Marathon Pipeline and the Lima Marathon Terminal donated a combined $9,600 to the Shawnee Township Police and fire departments. The police department will be using the donation toward a couple of portable MARCS radios, and the fire department will be getting 8 communication headsets for their trucks.

Marathon Petroleum Corporation in Findlay has completed a $21 billion dollar deal to sell of their Speedway gas stations.  Marathon sold them to Japanese based “Seven & i”, which owns 7-Eleven.  They say the all cash deal will be finalized the first part of 2021.  Speedway has nearly 4,000 stores in 36 states, and when the deal is complete, 7-Eleven will have around 14,000 locations in United States and Canada.  Also part of the deal, Marathon will supply 7-Eleven with 7.7 billion gallons of fuel a year for the next 15 years.  This is the largest U.S. energy deal so far in 2021.

Raising money for a marathon is one thing, but Rod Carpenter took the initiative to run in his own marathon and raised tens of thousands of dollars for veterans, all while honoring a fallen police officer. 

In Paulding County, Wednesday, an assault with a knife call leads law enforcement on a chase, ending with two injuries involving a K-9.

Marathon now has a distribution network to ship materials from the Utica Shale Region to other parts of Ohio and beyond.
