In Paulding County, Wednesday, an assault with a knife call leads law enforcement on a chase, ending with two injuries involving a K-9.
The Paulding County Sheriff's Office says deputies and Paulding police responded to the Marathon Gas Station on North Williams Street, when one of the people involved in a fight sped off, reportedly with a knife. The chase ended several blocks away when the driver, 64-year-old Marquis Goings Sr. hopped out and charged at one of the deputies, causing him to release his K-9 partner, while the second deputy took Goings to the ground. The K-9 bit the back of Goings' thigh as deputies gained control over him. During this, one of the deputies was also bitten. Both were treated for their injuries at a hospital.
Criminal charges are to come once the investigation wraps up. Alcohol or drugs is suspected to be a contributing factor.
