LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A New York man who was scheduled to be sentenced Thursday will instead seek to withdraw his guilty plea.

Xianchun Li, 34, pleaded guilty in February to three counts of theft from a person in a protected class, all second-degree felonies.

According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau, Li was arrested in July during a sting operation tied to an online scam investigation involving a senior citizen who lost a large amount of money.

Investigators said Li was taken into custody during the operation and booked into the Allen County Jail.

Defense attorneys now have until May 25 to file a motion to withdraw Li’s plea.
