LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Charity Car Show held its 20th annual car show noon Saturday in support of a good cause.
The car show featured a wide variety of eye-catching vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, jeeps, and golf carts. The event also included a 50-50 drawing, raffle prizes, a model car show, food trucks, and bounce houses. Officials say the event raises between $8,000 to $10,000 every year through the entry fee and drawings. Those proceeds are then donated to local charities.
"We've been doing this for 20 years getting all these people together in this area that love cars to help raise money for all the local charities that we can,"Â said John Waller, president of the Charity Car Show.
"I just think that the local charities that we have don't get enough support, so we like to do our part."
People came from across the area to register for the car show, and attendees said that the variety of vehicles, and the stories behind them, brought them to the event.
"What draws me to these car shows is the variety of vehicles you see here. There's a lot of people that have a lot of good stories behind those vehicles, and it's good to talk to everybody," said Gary Isenschmid, an event attendant.
The first 100 vehicles received a commemorative dash plaque, and the top vehicles were awarded trophies in numerous categories.
