LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — U.S. Sen. Jon Husted visited Lima on Friday, meeting with supporters during a luncheon hosted by the Allen County Republican Party at East Side Kewpee.
Husted, who is seeking re-election to the U.S. Senate, spoke to supporters about his priorities as he campaigns for the upcoming election against former Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, a Democrat.
Since taking office last year, Husted said he has focused on increasing American manufacturing, creating jobs and helping Ohio families keep more of their income.
“The average family for making $80,000 a year is getting a $6,000 tax benefit, whereas the Democrats wanted to raise taxes on tips, raise taxes on over time, raise taxes on Social Security. We cut taxes on all those things and that's going to help people make ends meet. It's great to see that the President is defeating Iran and we're getting gas prices back down,” says Sen. Jon Husted, (R) Ohio.

Husted also responded to recent criticism from Brown regarding Jeffrey Epstein.
“I actually feel sorry for Sherrod Brown. He's been in office for 52 years and he has nothing to talk about that he actually has done for Ohio. If you look at the the problems that we face to the nation, they're his policy. Higher health insurance costs are because Sharon Brown's failed health care policies. Higher electricity costs is because his green new deal failed energy policies. 11 million unvetted illegal aliens in this country. That's Sherrod Brown. He was for open borders, sanctuary cities, and defunding the police,” adds Husted.
During the event, Husted also presented Allen County Republican Party Chair Keith Cheney with a hat that he said was given to him by President Donald Trump during a lunch with Republican U.S. senators on Thursday.
