ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A long-time champion of services and quality of life for those with disabilities has hung up her hat.
The Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities threw a retirement party for Theresa Schnipke, who has been in the field for 34 years and served as the board superintendent for 8.

She has overseen major milestones like the transition of Marimor Industries to a private entity, the creation of the Butterfly Memorial Garden, and the construction of the $1.5 million All Abilities Playground.
The board also dedicated the butterfly garden to Schnipke today to show thanks for her role in its creation.

"There are so many moments that you treasure every day in this field. The people that we serve are just so loving and kind for the most part. And so, it might be getting a phone call from a person that we served, and he's upset about something and he remembers that you worked with him as a case manager because I was a case manager here 26 years ago," said Theresa Schnipke, retired superintendent of the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
Theresa Schnipke has overseen major milestones like the transition of Marimor Industries to a private entity, the creation of the Butterfly Memorial Garden, and the construction of the $1.5 million All Abilities Playground.
A meet and greet was held back in August for Renee Kohler, who is now the superintendent for both the Auglaize County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
