The West Ohio Community Action Partnership (WOCAP) is sealing Christmas with love for their community with their annual Christmas giveaway.
The Seal Christmas With Love program’s biggest sponsor is ABATE, who has raised funds to provide Christmas presents to WOCAP families for over 3 decades. This year they raised $7,000 which allowed them to double the amount of Allen County families they could help.
While it took weeks to wrap the over 600 presents, ABATE Region 3 Director Dana Frost said it’s all worth it to know they helped kids have a nice Christmas when they otherwise might not have.
“A lot of kids, they go without Christmas if we don’t step in,” said Dana Frost, Region 3 Director for ABATE. “The mom and dads can get the food on the table and pay the bills and stuff but when Christmas comes around they’re stretched to their max and so we step in and give them a hand.”
But families left with more than just toys for Christmas. WOCAP also sent food items as well as a care package of Procter and Gamble products like toilet paper, baby wipes, and Tide Pods to offer families some practical support.
“This just helps to give folks a boost up,” said Marva Cowan, Community Services Director for WOCAP. “The majority of our customers or clients that we serve, they work. They have one and two jobs. They sometimes don’t make living wages and this helps to bridge those gaps.”
ABATE will start collecting for next year’s Seal Christmas with Love event almost immediately.
