ST. MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) — Seven St. Marys Roughriders celebrated National Signing Day with commitments to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
Ameliah Sairrio will take her wrestling talents to Manchester University, while Kallie McKinley is set to further her bowling career at the University of Northwestern Ohio.
The University of Northwestern Ohio will also welcome three Roughriders to its softball program: Ayden Young, Kailey Smith, and Adyson Vandekeere.
On the baseball diamond, Preston Rupert has committed to Hocking College, and Kasey Gross will continue his career at Rio Grande University.
St. Marys’ seven signees reflect a broad range of athletic talent and dedication, highlighting the depth of the school’s sports programs.
"They have put in the time, the effort, the work needed to be there every day, get up out of bed, put in, you know, doing all of that. Take everything that the coaches have taught them, the teachers have taught them, and carry that to the next level. Because now you're on your own," told Hill Hollman, St. Marys Athletic Director.
St. Marys Softball Head Coach, Kendra Solomon added, "It is an incredible feeling. I'm very proud of these girls. All three of them have worked extremely hard all throughout high school, middle school, when they were younger, have always been avid softball players. As their coach, to have a small part in that out of all their different teams and programs they've played for, it's definitely an honor to be a part of that with him."
