Allen County Adult Protective Services is encouraging residents to wear purple on June 15 in recognition of Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Officials hope the campaign will raise awareness about elder abuse, neglect and exploitation while connecting seniors with resources that help them remain safe and independent.

When calls are received, caseworkers assess the situation to evaluate any risk to the safety and well-being of the alleged victims. If a risk is identified, caseworkers collaborate with families, social service agencies and other community resources to meet the individual's needs and improve their circumstances.

Allen County Job and Family Services, through its Adult Protective Services (APS) program, is dedicating Sunday, June 15, 2025, as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
