Sheriff Al Solomon released the names and charges against 10 individuals arrested on numerous drug charges. The Grand Lake Task Force and local officers went out Thursday afternoon January 9, 2020 with Grand Jury Indictments in hand and began the process of making the arrests. The arrests are a result of a lengthy long term investigation by undercover officers with the Task Force.
During his final go-around, the Auglaize County sheriff will add a few more responsibilities in 2020. Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon has been sworn in as the president of the Buckeye State Sheriffs' Association. He will oversee sheriffs from all 88 counties in Ohio. Solomon announced in August, he plans to retire and not run for re-election when his term ends this year. When the Sheriff's Association Board heard, they held an executive meeting to have Solomon voted in as president.
Auglaize County Sheriff Allen Solomon called a press conference Friday and to the shock of some, announced he will not be seeking a fifth term next year. Holding back tears, an emotional Sheriff Solomon informed his family, friends, and the media, that his current fourth term as sheriff will be his last. He said he has served at the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office for 40 years, and 16 years as sheriff. Solomon said he mulled the decision before running for a fourth term. Now several factors come into play for him citing he’d be 67 years old at the end of a fifth term.
Opioid addiction remains to be seen as a great issue in Ohio. Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon spoke at the St. Marys Rotary Club meeting, on Wednesday afternoon, giving an update on their best way to combat the issue, their special response team.
A new drug commission team has been formed to change drug education throughout the state.
