Four Lima men were taken into custody and released after police discovered a suspected dog fighting ring and rescued seven dogs during a search on West Sixth Street.

A Wapakoneta man has changed his plea to multiple charges surrounding his attempt to burn his house down. According to court documents, 77-year-old Gerald Fullenkamp changed his plea to guilty on two of the five counts against him. He pleaded to aggravated arson and cruelty to a companion animal. The other 3 charges were dismissed.
A Celina man received prison time for a multitude of charges, including possessing child pornography and creating "animal crush" videos. 27-year-old Lucas Vanwoert was sentenced to 97 months, or more than 8 years, in prison by a U.S. district judge and also received 15 years of supervised release. He must also register as a sex offender and cannot own a pet in the future.
The Ohio SPCA is investigating the horrific death of a German Shepherd dog that took place here in Lima last month. The SPCA says a cruelty investigator responded to a call of a dog that was beaten and set on fire on a set of railroad tracks in the area of 300 East Elm Street and Central Avenue on March 27th. The caller said the suspects were two young black men who were carrying a gas can and started a fire.
