November 14, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources: COLUMBUS, Ohio – Archery hunters in Ohio harvested 5,390 white-tailed deer on Saturday, Nov. 9, the highest single-day total this season, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. So far this season, bowhunters across Ohio have harvested 65,783 deer through Sunday, Nov. 10. The three-year average for deer harvested through the second weekend of November is 67,216. Last year, hunters checked 69,886 deer through the corresponding date. The statewide archery season began Sept. 28 and continues until Feb. 2, 2025.

November 5, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources: COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio archery hunters have checked 48,321 deer through Sunday, Nov. 3, which includes the first six weekends of bowhunting, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The 2024-25 statewide archery season began on Saturday, Sept. 28 and continues through Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025. Deer harvested this year include 23,311 antlered deer and 25,010 antlerless deer, a category which includes does and button bucks. The average bow harvest through the first weekend of November over the last three years is 50,844 white-tailed deer. Last year, hunters checked 51,352 deer over the same period. Ohio’s top 10 counties for archery harvest through Sunday, Nov. 3 are: Coshocton (1,673), Tuscarawas (1,514), Ashtabula (1,490), Knox (1,375), Holmes (1,355), Trumbull (1,353), Licking (1,216), Muskingum (1,119), Richland (1,097), and Guernsey (10,039).

October 24, 2024, Press Release from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources: COLUMBUS, Ohio – In honor of Veterans Day, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife invites veterans to visit and shoot for free at one of Ohio’s premier public shooting ranges on Sunday, Nov. 10. The shooting range permit requirement is waived for veterans on all Division of Wildlife Class A, B, and C shooting ranges for that day. The ODNR Division of Wildlife is providing a free range day as a thank you to veterans for their service. Veterans can visit either the Delaware or Spring Valley class A ranges between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to get specialized instruction. A variety of firearms will be available to use at no charge.

Deer are Ohio’s most sought-after game animal and an important food source for families across the Buckeye State. Ohio has an extensive archery season that is open Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, through Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025. Hunters may use crossbows, compound bows, recurve bows, and longbows to pursue deer during the archery season.
