A real estate agency in Wapakoneta is collecting winter clothing ahead of a traditional Auglaize County meal. Binkley Real Estate in Downtown Wapakoneta is currently accepting donations of new or gently used coats, hats, gloves and scarves.
Waynesfield-Goshen students were touched by the devastation that residents in North Carolina faced from Hurricane Helene. The students are collecting new or gently used coats, gloves, and hats for the residents of Black Mountain, North Carolina. They are working with a Baptist church in that area to help provide the coats to people who need them. The schools in black mountain recently reopened after they dealt with flooding from a record amount of rain in late September. Now with recovery efforts ongoing and winter fast approaching, the Waynesfield-Goshen students are asking for help to give kids and adults down there who lost everything a warm coat.
With the forecast calling for unseasonably cold temperatures for at least the next week, the need for warm clothes and food for local homeless shelters is quite high. On Monday, OSU Lima kicked off their annual "Buckeye Soup" drive for National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
Allen County residents are finding warmth before the winter comes. The Salvation Army is giving away coats to help those who may not have one.
