The college received $100,000, which will go toward the construction of the "Nutrien Agronomy Suite", a set of labs inside the James J. Countryman building. The agriculture technology program is designed to give students hands-on experience with equipment and technology that is used in farming.

Rhodes State College is under new leadership with a new president who will hit the ground running. Cynthia E. Spiers has accepted the position after being interim president since April of this year. She says the state is pushing community colleges to meet the needs of the ever-changing front of business and industry. The college needs to take a new course to be productive when it comes to getting students into the workforce.
